...in the simple things is so important when you are living in a place and situation that are riddled with stress and conflict.
I know what takes me to that peaceful place. I channel home in Cadrieu. I light a candle. I journal. I read. I treat myself to special coffees that are frothy or french press, instead of my routine cafe au lait. I look for things that I love in France, that are difficult to find here. I dude us up with flowers. I soak in the silence of the mornings. I hug my Sammie Cat. I am grateful.
When the plans that Kat and I made for Saturday were derailed, we regrouped and tried to move on. We'd already surrendered our trip for retail therapy to the Galleria. Local protests over the weekend were all over the city, and the Galleria is close to the St. Louis County government offices. On the way to our planned "drop-in" visit to see the folks, we instead stopped at the Clocktower strip mall to check out Ross's. I'd been on the hunt for fig jam...et voila! Kat walked over with this jar of Italian fig jam in her hand! What a treat for me! I was REALLY excited!
Upon our arrival for our visit with our parents, it becamse crystal clear that something needed to change. We surrendered our trip to the Schlafly Beer Festival, to bring Mom back to 411 so she can stay with me for a while. We are doing our best...responding in the moment. We are dangle dancing our way through these crazy and unpredictable lives that are not of our choosing. We are grateful we have each other.
And then, there are the flowers. More on the flowers and a special thank you tomorrow!
