Being back in New Orleans (if even for just a couple of weeks for now) is grand. Eric scooped me up with his bag of books in hand. We then had coffee at Fairgrinds and grocery shopped at Rouse's. Wandering down the grocery store aisles, I found myself saying: "I'll get that later." And then it hit me, getting it "later" was going to be a little more daunting because I am here "bikeless" this visit. My old reliable grape jelly girl is sitting in Ferguson.
I'd mentioned my aha to Eric and to my upstairs friend/tenant John. Et voila...John offered to lend me this very beautiful, very New Orleans, bike that he had for me to use. What a treat...purple, gold, black, fleur de lis, streamers, Mardi Gras beads, a bell and a lock. I'm set and very grateful.
All it takes is bikes, books, and good friends and I know I'm home in New Orleans. Huge Mercis to Eric and John.
I should add a little postscript here-Eric called later in the day and offered me his bike as well...I'm a lucky girl in the friendship department.
