I often say that I had worked for just about every politician in the City of New Orleans at one time or another. (Of course, we have wonderful stories and some not so wonderful.) I was particularly honored to work for former Mayor Ernest N. "Dutch" Morial for a time. Each politician taught me lessons all their own.
I have always loved our President and have only recently come to have great respect for Mayor Knowles in Ferguson. Look closely at the photos of television press conferences above.
When I looked at these two photos side by side I wondered: Who selects the people who stand behind a particular elected official? Do they go through some kind of special training to be appropriately neutral? Do they need to take a test to see if they can sit still and gaze at their leader for the length of the speech? What do you want the world to see when the world is watching? And, we are.
