I found one of my favorite plywood paintings on the grouping that covered the Ferguson Hardware Store windows in downtown Ferguson. It was silly. It brought tears to my eyes, when it carried me back to my high school days at McCluer Senior High School. Back in "those days", both Ferguson Junior High and McCluer Senior High were the Comets. Today, there are a variety of "middle schools" and 3 senior high schools in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. I believe that Ferguson Middle and McCluer Senior High remain the Comets. I don't know about the others.
I still marvel at the fact that back in the early 70's, we had about 4000 students at McCluer Senior High and that my Class of '72 had approximately 1350 students. I've used those numbers to shock my friends in New Orleans on more than one occasion. Having such a large class, split shifts, and slowly changing demographics shaped the person I am today. For that, I'm very grateful.
