One of the nicest things for me about teaching at the Tulane School of Social Work this semester is that the School has moved.
Instead of biking all the way uptown in the morning; I hop on my bike and blow easily over to Canal and Elks Place. It's always a bit of a challenge finding the best route during early morning traffic, but I am finding that there are bike lanes in unexpected places.
I'd already known I was good on Esplanade. I cut over to Governor Nicholls at Claiborne and ride through the neighborhood into Armstrong Park. What a treat! I had been worried about the last leg of the ride up to Canal Street, but voila...a huge, wide, bus and bike lane that runs all the way from the park up to Canal and Elks. I'm lovin' New Orleans even more these days.
Imagine a morning when your timing is just right. The gates are open and you can cruise in to Armstrong Park. The sunshine is dancing into the fountains and Mahalia and Louie are sparkling into their blessings for your whole brand new day. I don't think a morning ride to work can get much better than that!
