Finding a yard full of dead things never makes me happy. Freezes are one thing; flood waters are quite another. I've experienced both. Dead things and fallen leaves gave me the perfect stress relieving busy I needed to get my head straight and regroup from an intense week in St. Louis and a long drive home. There's just something about being in the yard and doing manual labor that helps me organize my mind and spirit.
It began early and was completed in stages, with coffee and biscotti with my guys over on Dupre Street in between. First the fence and the front of the house. Next, the back up to the garden, leaving the huge piles of leaves all the way to the back by the fence for another time.
Feeling finished, organized, and ready to move on in the yard, made it easier to begin to think about the other parts in my life where I'm wanting to do the same.
Looking at these before and after shots feels good.
