I'm often bemoaning the fact that all my stuff is in France, and that especially goes for clothes. When Dali, Sammie Cat and I headed to France in 2006, most of my clothes were donated to Bridge House. Those I couldn't part with came with me to France. When we returned in 2012, only wardrobe essentials returned with me. I'm pretty well stocked in overalls here, but there are just those times when you need something a little nicer. This Cinderella doesn't go to the ball very often, but when I do, I consult "My Men Who Dress Me". I have two teams of consultants: Eric and Steward and Mike and John.
For Tulane's graduation dance for the class of 2013, in stepped Eric and Stew. They have a closet full of great stuff for Mardi Gras and just about any other holiday/occasion you could imagine. Even their shoes have sequins! They had the perfect dress for me. I'd never seen so many sequins in my life and truly felt like the bell of the ball. I loved the dress so much that I was able to take it to Ferguson with me for the holidays that year and return it to them in 2014.
This year, I really wanted something pretty for the Bunch Club Mardi Gras Dinner dance. It has to be floor length and I'd seen a number of dresses on-line for a really great price. I decided to bite the bullet and order one. I'd shared the photo with both of my teams, and we all wondered exactly what would arrive if it ever got here. Mike didn't wait. He jumped into action and the Friday before the dance, he showed up on Columbus Street with a beautiful blue sequined number for me and choices of accessories to boot.
The dress arrived in time, but everyone agreed...it was much more Frederick's of Hollywood than Mardi Gras Ball material.
You might notice that from time to time my teams collide and we have some overlap. Eric came over to do a "double consultation" the day Mike came by. What fun we had and Eric got such great shots.
A very special thanks to my men who dress me. If you weren't in my life; Cinderella wouldn't get to go to the ball, or if she did, she'd be making a major fashion faux pas. Huge Merci to Eric and Steward and Mike and John!
